Cayman Expands Relationship With Comcast Business Communications; Agreement Extends Broadband Gateway Provider's Contract with Leading Cable Business Communications Company.

Cayman Systems, the leading provider of intelligent broadband gateways for the home, home office and small business, today announced that Comcast Business Communications will expand its offering of Cayman's family of 2E broadband Internet See broadband.  gateways. This new agreement is for the Cayman 2EH, a dual-Ethernet firewall/router with integrated 8-port hub, which Comcast has been deploying since the inception of their broadband commercial services. Also included in the agreement is the most recent Cayman product, the 2EH-W11, identical in functionality to the 2EH, but also featuring integrated 802.11b wireless LAN A local area network that transmits over the air typically in the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz unlicensed frequency band. It does not require line of sight between sender and receiver. Wireless base stations (access points) are wired to an Ethernet network and transmit a radio frequency over an area  support.

"Extending our relationship with Cayman will allow more of our business customers to take advantage of the flexibility and reliability of Cayman broadband gateways. Cayman's 2E series gateways require little configuration and are simple to use, yet powerful and extremely robust," said Robert Keane, president of Comcast Business Communications. In the past, wireless broadband started at 250 Kbps, whereas land-based broadband was generally considered to start at T1  offerings. Comcast considers the Cayman 2E family of products, with their entire plug-and-play routing and networking tools, integral components for commercial Internet service by providing customers with an experience that requires minimal attention from Comcast service technicians.

The Cayman 2E series consists of four models; the 2E has one Ethernet WAN port and one Ethernet LAN port, the 2E-H adds a built-in 8 port Ethernet hub A device that all lines on an Ethernet segment are plugged into. 10Base-T and 100Base-T Ethernets are star networks and require a hub for operation. The earlier 10Base5 and 10Base2 Ethernets are bus networks, but are often wired into a star configuration using a central hub for improved , the 2EH-W11 contains an 8 port Ethernet hub as well as an 802.11b access point, while the 2E-H-WRF contains an 8 port Ethernet hub and a Home RF access point. All of these solutions can provide high-speed Internet access to Comcast's broadband network into the corporate LAN.
