CAYLEY FITZHARRIS is the first female apprentice A person who agrees to work for a specified time in order to learn a trade, craft, or profession in which the employer, traditionally called the master, assents to instruct him or her.  to study barbering full-time at Henley College Coventry and there's no stopping her! Cayley has broken the stereotypes associated with barbering and is going places.

When she started at Henley College, Coventry, she joined the apprenticeship apprenticeship, system of learning a craft or trade from one who is engaged in it and of paying for the instruction by a given number of years of work. The practice was known in ancient Babylon, Egypt, Greece, and Rome, as well as in modern Europe and to some extent  scheme but having always wanted to do men's hair and expressed a strong interest in it, the department specifically designed a course to meet her needs. And with that her journey began.

"When I first heard about the courses at Henley College, barbering was on offer as an additional unit for those on hairdressing hairdressing, arranging of the hair for decorative, ceremonial, or symbolic reasons. Primitive men plastered their hair with clay and tied trophies and badges into it to represent their feats and qualities.  courses but when I enrolled, I realised that I could actually study it as a course on its own and I did not hesistate swopping to barbering full-time".

The course is tailored to meet Cayley's demands and as such she still is able to pursue qualifications in other skills like waxing and massage.

"The apprenticeship has been more than I thought it would be and I am enjoying myself.

"Being someone who has already started working at a barbershop, I am happy to see that they have met my demands in terms of skills that I need to do my job"

Men's hairdressing has changed over the years and more men are asking for more than just the basic haircut Haircut

One such place is Clippers in Southam where Cayley works as part of an all-female team.
