Cayenne peppers up with diesel; Porsche.Byline: Mike Torpey PORSCHE is spicing up its fiery 4x4 - the Cayenne - with a diesel engine. It means the range of engines for the four-door, all-wheel-drive bruiser has been extended once again. In this case, the Cayenne will be equipped with an Audi-sourced 3.0-litre V6 turbo-diesel delivering 240bhp. And the good news for lovers of the powerful 4x4 - equipped with the proven Tiptronic-S automatic gearbox as standard and costing from pounds 40,250 - is that average fuel consumption tips just over the 30mpg mark. The stylish Cayman range was given a facelift last year and has a new star in the shape of the S Sport model which develops more than 300bhp from its tuned 3.4-litre flat-six engine. The new 2.9-litre Boxster generates 10bhp more punch than the 2.7-litre model it replaces at a new high of 255bhp, while the more powerful 3.4-litre S version gains 15bhp and now delivers 310bhp. With the new six-speed manual gearbox fitted as standard, the Boxster accelerates from 0-62mph in 5.9 seconds and with the new double-clutch auto transmission - which replaces the Tiptronic S system - it can average 30mpg. Prices are pounds 34,420 for the Boxster and pounds 41,250 for the Boxster S.
