Version 4.0 Offers Ability to Performance Test Over 10,000 Concurrent

RTSP/RTP Streams Against Media Servers Including Apple's QuickTime

Streaming Servers and RealSystem Servers Serving QuickTime Files

Caw Networks, the authority in L4-7 real-world capacity assessment for next-generation Internet infrastructure and equipment, today unveiled WebAvalanche(TM) 4.0 at CDN (Content Delivery Network) A system of distributed content on a large intranet or the public Internet in which copies of content are replicated and cached throughout the network.  Fall 2001 at the McEnery Convention Center in San Jose. WebAvalanche 4.0 is the world's first capacity assessment appliance to support streaming media See streaming audio, streaming video and digital media hub.  testing. Caw's high-performance appliance-based approach enables the generation of more than 10,000 concurrent RTSP/RTP streams to assess the real-world capacity of large RTSP/RTP server farms with Apple QuickTime(R) Streaming Servers and RealSystem(R) Servers serving QuickTime files.

The introduction of this latest version of WebAvalanche follows the successful launch of WebAvalanche 3.0 in September, which was declared the winner in the Networld+Interop 2001 Best of Show Performance Test and Measurement Category, as well as Best Startup Product.

"The introduction of streaming support for WebAvalanche reflects Caw's commitment to providing multi-protocol solutions in L4-7 capacity assessment. Caw Networks will continue to be the leader in this space, and our goal is to innovate and deliver best of breed capacity assessment solutions," commented Andrew Foss, CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization.  and SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) The leading security protocol on the Internet. Developed by Netscape, SSL is widely used to do two things: to validate the identity of a Web site and to create an encrypted connection for sending credit card and other personal data.  traffic. RTSP/RTP support in WebAvalanche simplifies the setup and configuration of performance tests for large scale streaming media infrastructure, and eliminates the need to configure large farms of PCs with streaming clients. CDNs and service providers can use WebAvalanche 4.0 to validate that their infrastructures can support large number of streams at different bandwidths and packet loss rates. They can also ascertain that bandwidth allocations are appropriate to support customer SLAs and QoS guarantees. For cache and streaming server manufacturers, WebAvalanche helps validate the robustness and performance of their products in the face of large amounts of real-world traffic. WebAvalanche 4.0 will be available in Q1 of 2002.
