Causes of Joint Pain, Recognize Joint Pain Symptoms


Arthritis is an inflammation of one or more joints caused by the wear and tear injury or any infection. This inflamed condition of the joints is mostly seen in the elderly people. It comes from two Greek words, athron meaning joints and itis meaning inflammation. It affects almost half of the population of the world

Arthritis is an inflammation of one or more joints caused by the wear and tear injury or any infection. This inflamed condition of the joints is mostly seen in the elderly people. It comes from two Greek words, athron meaning joints and itis meaning inflammation. It affects almost half of the population of the world. About 50 million people in the United States suffer from one or the other type of arthritis. It is more common than cancer and heart problems. In brief we can say that it is the condition that affects the health of the bone joints in the body.

Joint pain can be due to several causes and the treatment is dependant upon the cause of the pain. Joint pain is a common complaint often associated with aging process. Unusual exertion or overuse of joints can cause body joint pain. Other causes include injury, Arthritis, Tendonitis, Bursitis, Infectious diseases like influenza, measles, rheumatic fever, hepatitis and mumps, and autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and lupus.

Sacroiliac joint pain is typically discomfort that is centrally located in the lower back and hip area. Severe cases of Sacroiliac back pain can spread into the legs and groin. Subluxation of the joint is a common cause of joint pain. This can be defined as a partial dislocation of the affected bones, causing ligament hyperextension. For obvious reasons, these areas are susceptible to inflammation, and discomfort. This inflammation can result from a number of issues. Trauma to these areas, genetics, illness, infection, or even excessive stress can all be joint pain causes.

The most common method for relieving joint pain is the use of medicines and over-the-counter pills and ointments, and also, the use of ice packs or heating pads. Medicines could include injections of glucocorticoid or hyaluronic acid, two types of steroids which provide long term relief of 4-12 months. However, in most cases in which medicine is needed for fast joint pain relief, only a rubbing ointment or some over-the-counter medicine is used for short term or temporary relief.

Joint pains could be symptoms of serious problems associated with serious diseases like arthritis, gout, osteoarthritis, tendonitis, rheumatoid arthritis or even infections. The pain could affect not only your joints but your whole body as in could cause the patient to become immobile. Even the livelihood, job, interaction with friends and family could also be affected when a person suffers from joint pain. Taking over the counter drug pain relievers are usually not enough to cure the pain because it could become recurrent over time.

Although you cannot feel it, the elbow bursa is located behind your elbow, over the pointed tip. Bursitis to the elbow is referred to as olecranon (oh-LEK-rah-non) bursitis. This is normally a result of repetitive movement or prolonged, excessive pressure to the area. People who perform repetitive activities, such as tennis players or construction workers, commonly develop this condition.
