Caught in the middle.

Dear Kids,

Sometimes I'm caught in the middle of my two best friends. They get into fights and then ask me, "Whose side are you on?" I don't know what to say. What can I do? Katie Manning, Iowa

Audrey: I have been in the same situation before. Just say, "I'm not on either of your sides. This is your fight, and you need to work it out yourselves. I can't choose sides because you're both my friends." I hope everything works out for you.

Zane: I was in the same situation once. If I were you, I would tell them that you are not part of the problem. They need to deal with it themselves, and you should not have to take sides since you enjoy having fun with both of them.

Christin: What I would do is say, "I really don't want to be in this situation. I am not on either side. I am still your friend, but I have nothing to do with this fight." Good luck!

Sarah: I understand your situation. I have friends who do that to me, too. I usually just tell them that I will play with one of them at one time and the other at another time.

Brock: In a situation like yours, I would play with one at a time if they won't stop fighting. If they still fight, try to make them settle down if you can. I would tell them that I am not on either side, and I won't play with either one until they stop fighting.
