Catholicos of All Armenians: Peace Must Be Based on Justice.

Damascus, (SANA) - Catholicos of All Armenians His Holiness Karekin II said on Saturday that the joint fraternity between Muslims and Christians in Syria was old and its roots could be seen in Umayyad Mosque's building where prayers for God were performed by Muslims and Christians for several centuries.During a visit to Umayyad Mosque, Karekin II added that talking about the dialogue among cultures and civilizations is extremely raised nowadays." This dialogue was true in Syria before many centuries and the best example on this dialogue is existed here at the mosque which is the tomb of John the Baptist." The Catholicos of All Armenians said that after visiting al-Quneitera and seeing the horrible devastation of the city by the Israeli occupation, we performed prayers asking God to bring peace to the humanity, the peace which must be based on the justice. For his part, Minister of Religious Endowments Mohamed Abdel-Sattar al-Sayyed said: " The Umayyad Mosque is the title of Islamic-Christian brotherhood since Prophet Yahya and John the Baptist are reposed at the Mosque that all Muslims and Christians visit,"adding: " we, in Syria, live a national unity which is considered an example to be followed."
