London, city (1991 pop. 303,165), SE Ont., Canada, on the Thames River. The site was chosen in 1792 by Governor Simcoe to be the capital of Upper Canada, but York was made capital instead. London was settled in 1826.
 ON -- King's College King's College, former name of Columbia Univ. , a Catholic institution on the campus of the University of Western Ontario Western is one of Canada's leading universities, ranked #1 in the Globe and Mail University Report Card 2005 for overall quality of education.[2] It ranked #3 among medical-doctoral level universities according to Maclean's Magazine 2005 University Rankings.  in London, Ontario Ontario, city, United States

, unlike Mount St. Vincent, has maintained its Catholic character. In October 2004, a third-year student was fired as a residence supervisor because he refused to agree to stop making condoms available in the dorm. Dean of Students, Mary Carol Waiters explained--according to the Toronto Star--that, as a Catholic college King's could absolutely not distribute birth control products. However, she then added: "We know students have condoms and we are quick to tell them where they are available and we encourage peer health education (Star, Nov. 5, 2004).
