For the occasion, NMCAH assembled artifacts on special loan from the 69th Regiment archives including photos of poet Sgt. Joyce Kilmer; photos and salutes to Father Francis P. Duffy, famed chaplain of the "Fighting 69th" and a letter to the Regiment from President William McKinley. In tribute to the Irish contribution to America, NMCAH hosted a special tribute to Saint Patrick, including an exhibition of icons with the image of the Saint; preaching stoles; enlarged images of "The Confession of the Book of Armagh The Book of Armagh (Dublin, Trinity College Library, MS 52) is a 9th century Irish manuscript. It is also known as the Canon of Patrick and the Liber Ar(d)machanus. It contains some of the oldest surviving specimens of Old Irish. " and a display of Celtic Crosses. |
