Catherine Crier Live, Court TV's live daily talk show, will broadcast from Houston, TX, where Andrea Yates Andrea Pia Yates (born July 2, 1964) committed the filicide of her five young children on June 20, 2001 by drowning them in the bathtub in her house. Convicted of first degree murder in 2002 and sentenced to life in prison with parole possible after 40 years, Yates' conviction was  faces the death penalty for drowning her five children. Yates' defense claims she is not guilty by reason of insanity not guilty by reason of insanity n. plea in court of a person charged with a crime who admits the criminal act, but whose attorney claims he/she was so mentally disturbed at the time of the crime that he/she lacked the capacity to have intended to commit a crime.  for drowning her five children in a bathtub in June of 2001. She is charged in the deaths of three of the children, but has not yet been charged in the deaths of the other two. Her trial began on February 18 and prosecutors are seeking the death penalty. Cameras will be allowed back into the courtroom for closing arguments and the verdict.
