Catherine Bagdonas.


ATHOL - Catherine A. Bagdonas, 62, of Athol, died Saturday, Oct. 24, at home.

She leaves one sister, Patricia A. Puccetti; two nephews, Joseph P. Puccetti, Mark L. Puccetti; three grand nieces and nephews, Emileigh Puccetti, Hayden Puccetti, Hayleigh Puccetti, all of West Boylston; and many close friends.

She was born in Worcester on Aug. 17, 1947, the daughter of the late Alphonse and the late Blanche (Staraitis) Bagdonas.

Ms. Bagdonas was a lifelong resident of Athol and graduated from Athol High School with the class of 1965. She worked at the Athol Savings Bank savings bank, financial institution that, until recently, performed only the following functions: receiving savings deposits of individuals, investing them, and providing a modest return to its depositors in the form of interest.  and other area banks. She was a communicant of the St. Francis of Assisi Church in Athol and a member of the Cornerstone Quilters.

She enjoyed sewing, quilting quilting, form of needlework, almost always created by women, most of them anonymous, in which two layers of fabric on either side of an interlining (batting) are sewn together, usually with a pattern of back or running (quilting) stitches that hold the layers , yard work, hummingbirds, and especially enjoyed spending time with her dog, Greta.

Memorial services were held Friday, Nov. 6, in the Murphy Funeral Home, Athol. Burial followed in Gethsemane Gethsemane (gĕthsĕm`ənē), olive grove or garden, E of Jerusalem, near the foot of the Mount of Olives. In the Gospels, it is the scene of the agony and betrayal of Jesus.  Cemetery, Athol.
