Roger Phillips, Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Liverpool, presented the Award to Liverpool Cathedral yesterday along with representatives from the North West Multi Faith Tourism Association. The Marque of Excellence is given to sacred spaces such as Mosques, Cathedrals, Temples, Synagogues, and Churches in the North West of England The West of England is a loose term given to the area surrounding the City and County of Bristol, England. It is increasingly used - e.g. by the West of England Partnership - as a synonym for the former Avon (county) area. that create a positive visitor experience, physically and spiritually. They also have to demonstrate how the building is connected to the community historically and in the present day. The Cathedral joins Princes Road Synagogue The Princes Road Synagogue is located in Toxteth, Liverpool in England. It came into existence when the Jewish community in Liverpool in the late 1860s decided to build itself a new synagogue, reflecting the status and wealth of the community. and Sefton Parish Church in winning this award. The Cathedral has drawn tourists from all over the world with attractions including the launch of The Great Space, an interactive HD experience allowing visitors to appreciate Giles Gilbert Scott's design, and the Tower Experience.
