Catfish Club to Showcase Local Stars on June 3.


SAN DIEGO San Diego (săn dēā`gō), city (1990 pop. 1,110,549), seat of San Diego co., S Calif., on San Diego Bay; inc. 1850. San Diego includes the unincorporated communities of La Jolla and Spring Valley. Coronado is across the bay.  -- The Catfish Club will host a "Showcase of Stars" on Friday evening, June 3, from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., in the studios of KGTV Channel 10, 4600 Air Way, in San Diego.

Billed as an evening of "entertainment and applause," the showcase will feature local business, government, media, and community personalities performing as their favorite stars.

Channel 10's Marti Emerald and Fred Blankenship will co-host the show and are also scheduled to perform.

Other local media personalities on stage will include Dennis Morgigno, Jane Mitchell, and Bill Menish.

County school board member John Witt will perform his vaudeville act and UCAN's Michael Shanes promises to leave guests laughing with his standup stand·up or stand-up

By popular demand, Catfish Club President and Founder, the Reverend George Walker Smith, will portray his favorite blues man, the legendary BB King.

Open seating Admission to the "Showcase of Stars" is $25 per person. Reserved tables also are available. Since studio space is limited, early reservations are suggested.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Catfish Club and its ongoing weekly public forums and community service programs.
