Catch up... Paramedics slam cash injection.


PARAMEDICS have rejected claims that ambulance response times will be improved by funding of pounds 10.5m to fit hi-tech navigation technology in the vehicles.

The Assembly Government last month gave the Welsh Ambulance Service The Welsh Ambulance Service (also called the Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust or Ymddiriedolaeth GIG Gwasanaethau Ambiwlans Cymru) was established on April 1, 1998 and has 2,500 staff providing ambulance and related services to the 2.9 million residents of Wales.  the money to pay for vital technology, including an automated vehicle location system and satellite navigation, in a bid to help improve response times.

But some paramedics have criticised the investment.

Writing on the Paramedics and Friends Online website, one said: "What's the point of spending all that money if you get there quicker to be blocked up at casualty - sort them out first."

And another wrote: "It's no good to throw money at the ambulance service for the technology we have already got.
