Cataract ? Natural Cures to Treat Cataract

There are three factors which contribute to the loss of transparency of the lens. These are deterioration in the nutrition of the lens which diminishes the vitality and resistance of the delicate lens fibres; deposits of acids and salts between the lens fibres which have an irritating effect on the lens tissues and exert an increasing pressure on its delicate fibres, gradually destroying them; and disintegration of lens fibres which cloud the entire lens in the absence of appropriate measures.

Eat lots of green vegetables, specially spinach, kale and berries, blueberries, blackberries, cherries and fruits rich in Vitamin C and E.

Carrots are considered valuable as a part of cataract home remedy treatment. Eat loads of raw carrots on a daily basis. If you do not like eating raw carrots then you can go in for fresh carrot juice. Drink it once in the morning and then later in the evening.

Almonds are valuable in cataract. Seven kernels should be ground finely with half a gram of pepper in half a cup of water, and drunk after sweetening the mixture with a teaspoon of sugar candy. It helps the eyes to regain their vigour.

Use Eyebright herb in drops is excellent for cataracts, this plant can be use internally and is much more effective than commercial eye drops and safer.

Wear sunglasses or a hat. "The most credible evidence shows that the best way to prevent cataracts is to protect your eyes from the sun''s ultraviolet rays," says Merrill M. Knopf, M.D., an ophthalmologist in Long Beach, California, and an officer of the California Association of Ophthalmology. "Be sure to wear sunglasses or a hat when you''re outdoors. And there''s no need to spend $100 or more for a pair of designer sunglasses, since all sunglasses sold in the United States offer UV protection.

The use of spinach is an effective home remedy to check cataract, according to a study in the British Medical Journal. A probable reason is spinach''s rich stores of antioxidants, including beta carotene. Indeed, the investigators found that those who ate the most beta carotene in fruits and vegetables were only 40 per cent as likely to develop cataracts.

Dietary Tips for Eye Care
Vitamin A is directly responsible for the strength and power of the eyes. Hence, foods that are rich in vitamin A must be taken. Vitamin A is contained in all orange and yellow colored vegetables such as carrots, oranges and pumpkins and in fruits like mangoes, papayas and oranges.

Orange Juice is very rich in Vitamin C, which is very ample for eye cataracts. Wear UV protective sunglasses which are tinctured, either amber, yellow or brown.
The risk of cataracts is reduced by including vitamin C in the diet. Foods containing vitamin C such as Indian gooseberry, guava, orange, lemon and tomato, capsicum, cabbage, etc. must be included in the diet.
