Catapult Communications Announces Global Purchase Agreement With Cisco Systems.

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 17, 2000

Catapult Communications (Nasdaq:CATT), a leading provider of advanced software-based test systems to the telecom industry announced the signing of a global purchase agreement with Cisco Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:CSCO CSCO Cisco Systems Incorporated (stock symbol)

Although no minimum purchase requirements are specified, the agreement establishes standard terms and conditions to be used worldwide for Cisco purchases of Catapult's DCT (Discrete Cosine Transform) An algorithm that is widely used for data compression. Similar to Fast Fourier Transform, DCT converts data (pixels, waveforms, etc.) into sets of frequencies. The first frequencies in the set are the most meaningful; the latter, the least.  test systems.

According to Dave Mayfield, president and COO, "We expect that this agreement will facilitate future sales of Catapult systems to Cisco. This agreement also affirms Catapult's position as a leading supplier of telecom test systems."
