Catalyst Semiconductor Adds VP for Nonvolatile Memory and Mixed-Signal Design.

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 20, 2002

Catalyst Semiconductor (Nasdaq:CATS) today announced the appointment of Dr. George Smarandoiu as Vice President of Design. Joining Catalyst Semiconductor from Atmel Corporation, where he was the Director of Mixed-Mode Product Development, Mr. Smarandoiu will report to Catalyst President and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  Gelu Voicu.

Dr. George Smarandoiu has over 20 years of successful integrated circuit development The integrated circuit (IC) development process is complex and arduous. The high level process for developing an integrated circuit starts with defining product requirements, progresses through architectural definition, implementation, bringup and finally productization.  experience at such firms as Siliconix, SEEQ SEEQ Student Evaluation of Educational Quality  Technology, Inc. and Atmel Corporation.

At Catalyst Semiconductor, Mr. Smarandoiu is responsible for non-volatile memory and mixed-signal circuit development.

Mr. Smarandoiu received Master of Engineering and Doctor of Engineering degrees from the University of California, Berkeley The University of California, Berkeley is a public research university located in Berkeley, California, United States. Commonly referred to as UC Berkeley, Berkeley and Cal .
