Catalyst Rx Selected To Participate in the URAC PBM Accreditation Program.

ROCKVILLE, Md. -- Catalyst Rx, the pharmacy benefit management subsidiary of HealthExtras, Inc. (NASDAQ:HLEX), is proud to announce its selection as a beta participant for the first-ever URAC Pharmacy Benefit Management Accreditation program. Industry experts believe this accreditation will become a "must have" PBM stamp of approval in the future as URAC is generally considered the leader in promoting health care quality through accreditation and certification programs. At the request of various stakeholders, non-profit URAC is tasked with outlining PBM standards and best practices to help ensure quality throughout the industry. These standards were developed by an independent URAC committee representing diverse interests including PBMs, health plans, large employers, government payers, pharmacists and labor and consumer groups. The proposed standards represent a wide range of industry practices including such areas as organizational integrity, customer service, communications, disclosure, pharmacy distribution channels, drug use management, formulary / physician and therapeutics committee. According to URAC, "Encouraging improvement and innovation in the marketplace while setting standards that challenge PBM organizations to empower and protect consumers is the impetus behind URAC's decision to create standards for pharmacy benefit management in both the Medicare and commercially-insured markets."
