Catalina Conflict: Glendale YMCA's lease of Camp Fox on Catalina Island Catalina Island: see Santa Catalina. will be allowed to run out at the end of this year because of disagreements between the Y and the Catalina Island Conservancy. The Glendale Y has operated the 3.5-acre, 30-cabin facility on Buttonshell Beach for 80 years. The conservancy questions the Y's fiscal ability to continue to keep up the facility, which currently requires $1.2 million in maintenance for septic septic /sep·tic/ (sep´tik) pertaining to sepsis.
sep·tic (s p t system repairs, fire system upgrades, and clean-up at the area dump. The negotiations between the conservancy and the Y continued for a year. About 1,700 children visit the camp during the summer months.
