Castle aiming to be kings; 3D Sports Durham Coast League.


THE inaugural 3D Sports Durham Coast League Twenty20 finals day takes place at Dawdon on Sunday, with Castle Eden Castle Eden is a village in County Durham, in England. It is situated a short distance to the south of Peterlee, Wingate, the A19 and Castle Eden Dene. The village is famous for the former Castle Eden Brewery which was home of the famous Castle Eden Ale, most of it was demolished  targeting another piece in their Grand Slam grand slam

Having already banked the Dixon and Lees trophies, they now just need the 20/20 and league title to complete the full set.

However, they would gladly forfeit the coloured-clothing gong if it meant they could achieve the ultimate goal of the league title and a crack at promotion.

But Dawdon stand in the way of that dream tomorrow. Castle are inevitably at full strength for the home fixture, while their visitors are also unchanged - for the first time in two seasons.

A strong Bill Quay Bill Quay is an area in the east of Gateshead in North East England, situated between Hebburn to the east and Pelaw to the west. It lies on the south bank of the River Tyne, facing Walker-on-Tyne.  side, looking to topple the Castle, will not have it all their own way against bottom club Seaham Park.

The third team in the title equation, Easington, could also find a banana skin awaiting them in their home game against Boldon CA, who can prove extremely obstinate opponents.

For Silksworth the match at Murton is their last of the season and the troops have rallied round, with all the players making an extra effort to make themselves available as they try to secure the victory that would make them more or less safe for another season.

Sunday's Twenty20 finals day starts with the first semi-final at 11.30am between Washington and Dawdon, followed by the second semi at 2pm between Castle Eden and Ryhope, with the two winners meeting in the final at 5pm.

League chairman Roy Simpson said: "We look forward to an entertaining day at Dawdon, with 20/20 cricket, music, food and drinks.

"The winners and runners-up will receive individual Kookaburra kookaburra (kk`əbûr'ə), common name for a squat, long-tailed Australian kingfisher, Dacelo navaguinae.  3D vouchers, with a top of the range cricket bat for the man of the match.

"We are indebted to our league and competition sponsor, 3D Sports, who have supported this new venture with great enthusiasm."
