) today announced FaxPress(TM) Version 4.0, the industry's first fax server for Windows NT (Windows New Technology) A 32-bit operating system from Microsoft for Intel x86 CPUs. NT is the core technology in Windows 2000 and Windows XP (see Windows). Available in separate client and server versions, it includes built-in networking and preemptive multitasking. (R) and NetWare(R) networks that works over the Internet, intranet and extranet to reduce fax communication costs.

Castelle's FaxPress is also the first fax server in the industry to support Microsoft(R) Active Directory, which significantly reduces administration costs.

FaxPress provides an optional email-to-fax connection for all popular e-mail packages, including Microsoft Exchange Messaging and groupware software for Windows from Microsoft. Exchange Server is an Internet-compliant e-mail system that runs under Windows NT/2000 and Windows Server 2003. It can be accessed by Web browsers, the Exchange client, versions of Outlook and the earlier Windows Inbox. , Lotus Notes Messaging and groupware software from IBM Lotus that was introduced in 1989 for OS/2 and later expanded to Windows, Mac, Unix, NetWare, AS/400 and S/390. Notes provides e-mail, document sharing, workflow, group discussions and calendaring and scheduling. (R) and cc:Mail(TM). These software add-ons enable e-mail users to send and receive faxes from within their e-mail applications.

FaxPress also integrates with Hewlett-Packard's Network ScanJet(R) 5 scanner, Cardiff Software's TELEform(R) data collection products, and Castelle's InfoPress(TM) Fax-On-Demand system.

Service and Support

Castelle offers, free of charge, hardware support for one year, and software upgrades and technical assistance for 60 days after purchase. Castelle also offers several extended support programs for technical assistance beyond 60 days, starting at $695 per year.

Pricing and Availability

FaxPress comes in 3 models:

-- OfficeConnect(TM) Fax Server -- Entry-level fax server for small networks of 50 users or less, offered in partnership with 3Com(R) Corporation. Available in a one-line configuration. List prices start at $1695.

-- FaxPress 1500-N -- Cost-effective fax server for small to medium networks. Available in one- or two-line configurations. List prices start at $2995 for unlimited user licenses.

-- FaxPress 3500 -- High-performance fax server for medium to large networks. Available in two- or four-line configurations. Various units can be cascaded for a maximum of 24 lines. List prices start at $4695 for unlimited user licenses. -0-

FaxPress Version 4.0 will be available from Castelle distributors worldwide on Oct. 15, 1997. FaxPress customers with Version 3.7.3 can either buy an upgrade for $795 or get a free upgrade as part of their annual maintenance contract.
