Castelle Announces Integration of Its Network Fax Servers with Sharp OSA Multifunction Devices.

MORGAN HILL, Calif. -- Castelle[R] (Nasdaq:CSTL), a leader in 'all-in-one' network fax solutions for the business and enterprise markets, today announced that its FaxPress[TM] family of network fax servers provide a scan in, fax out solution for Sharp Open Systems Architecture (Sharp OSA)-enabled multifunction devices.

Integrating a FaxPress fax server with a Sharp multifunction device provides copier, scanner and multifunction users with immediate access to an intuitive, user-friendly fax interface. Paper documents are converted easily to electronic fax files with the touch of a button. Once a document is scanned, the copier, scanner or multifunction device is immediately free for further use since all fax retries occur at the FaxPress.

Castelle's Sharp Interface operates as an Embedded Service on FaxPress Premier[TM] and FaxPress Enterprise[TM] and as an external gateway for FaxPress fax servers. Once installed, a FaxPress button shows up on the Sharp multifunctional device's control panel screen. To fax a document, users are prompted to scan and enter a list of recipient names and fax numbers. Recipient information can be entered directly from the Sharp control panel or selected from any local or networked database address book. Users may also select which cover page to use and enter a short message to appear on to the cover page. The combined solution covers all aspects of faxing from desktop faxing, fax-to-email, and hard copy faxing.

Sharp OSA is a development platform designed for seamless integration with network applications. Designed to deliver the power of customization to the customer, Sharp OSA allows users to leverage their back-end systems right from the MFP control panel. Sharp OSA leverages the inherent interoperability of Web services design to enable Sharp, its dealer network and ISV partners to better meet customer needs.
