Casino Group among First Retailers to License JDA's New Microsoft .NET-based Advanced Replenishment Software.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Tier One Retailer Selects JDA's Next-Generation Solution to Transform Supply Chain

JDA(R) Software Group Inc. (Nasdaq:JDAS) announced that Casino Group, a $29 billion food retailer with more than 8,300 stores in 11 countries, licensed the new JDA Portfolio(R) advanced replenishment software developed on Microsoft .NET in second quarter 2005. An existing JDA customer, Casino Group plans to migrate to JDA's next-generation PortfolioEnabled(R) software, Portfolio Replenishment Optimization by E3(R) ("PRO"), to realize a truly holistic approach to supply chain optimization while ensuring the ultimate in customer satisfaction. PRO introduces unique, new capabilities that will enable Casino Group to automate the synchronization of all daily decisions and processes associated with forecasting, planning, promoting, ordering and distributing so that users can intelligently manage their inventory investment by exception.

Casino Shares JDA's Vision for Holistic Supply Chain Management

During 2002-2003 Casino Group had improved service levels and increased the productivity of its replenishment organization after implementing JDA's Advanced Warehouse Replenishment by E3(R).

Operating under 10 banners, including hypermarkets, grocery, convenience and discount stores across North America, South America, Europe and Asia, Casino Group wanted synergies in the business' IT systems to accelerate the flow of goods and information while delivering a strong return on investment. With that ultimate goal in mind, Casino Group plans to migrate to PRO under JDA's Investment Protection Program and at the same time significantly expand its license by adding incremental capability for JDA's Store Replenishment(TM) and Seasonal Profiling by Intellect(TM) (SPI) applications.

Since November 2004 a team from Casino Group has been working closely with JDA consultants to ensure PRO's capabilities would address Casino Group's global requirements for a single, centralized replenishment organization with enterprise forecasting, replenishment and planning.

Casino Considered In-House, ERP Before Selecting JDA

Prior to selecting JDA, Galzi decided against in-house development because he deemed it as too expensive and too lengthy to start from scratch designing processes and defining functional specifications. Commenting on another option, ERP or Enterprise Resource Planning system, Galzi said, "I strongly believe that ERP is less appropriate in retail because these systems favor data integration to the disadvantage of flexible processes. While ERP is a good solution in environments such as finance, accounting and manufacturing where processes are stable and repeatable from one company to the next, ERP is not right for retail.

"Maybe one day the very large ERP vendors will get the knowledge and expertise to deliver solutions that support the fast pace of retail, but I don't see it in the short term and certainly not today," added Galzi.

Now that the JDA agreement has been officially signed, Casino Group plans to implement PRO along with SPI in phases to leverage all of their IT systems and reach the goal of a best-in-class supply chain. They will begin with a pilot to quickly demonstrate the business benefits of using JDA's innovative software.
