Bosses at a Tyneside college are celebrating after a cash boost.

The School of Maritime Studies at South Tyneside College South Tyneside College is a large further education college in South Tyneside in the United Kingdom, with its main sites in the towns of South Shields and Hebburn. The college offers part-time and full-time courses for both young students and adults alike.  is already a world leader in marine education, offering expertise for trainees and cadets through to senior officers.

Now it is set to strengthen its position with a pounds 360,000 injection from the Royal Bank of Scotland

The Royal Bank of Scotland Plc (Scottish Gaelic: Banca Rìoghail na h-Alba
 and Lombard Asset Finance. It will be used to update its Marine Simulation Centre which generates pounds 1m every year.

The school director, Ian Gardner, said: "This investment represents a strong commitment to maintaining South Tyneside College's status as a worldwide centre for maritime training excellence."
