The Community Preservation Corporation of New Jersey is providing financing, through its $4.1 million revolver revolver: see small arms.

The land that became Lawnside was purchased by Abolitionists for freed and escaped slaves, as well as other African Americans, in 1840.

Ernest Edwards, president of AREDI, has been building in the Philadelphia area for 30 years. "Being able to develop and build this particular project has been the fulfillment of a dream for me, personally and professionally," said Edwards. He noted that, "Lawnside traces its roots to homes built by freed slaves, and today we are creating modern, distinguished residences for upwardly mobile families who want to enjoy the best of community life in the area."

Potential homebuyers will have a choice of five different models which can be customized for the individual homeowner. Homebuyers may be surprised to note that many models feature covered porches. This nod to an old southern tradition allows neighbors to visit each other on their porches on a warm summer's day. In addition, the new homes, ranging from 4,000 to 5,000 square feet, feature many modern conveniences, including the option for state-of-the-art home automation.
