Cash boost for design institute.


THE Higgs Charity has donated pounds 40,000 to support art and design at Coventry University The expanding main campus is situated on the east side of Coventry city centre, which boasts one of the most innovative (and unusual-looking) university libraries in the UK. The university is particularly noted for its world-renowned automotive design and engineering degree courses as .

The money will go to the Institute for Creative Enterprise (ICE) with pounds 20,000 for equipment and the rest for postgraduate scholarships.

The ICE, which is due to open in June, will offer a variety of arts courses and will include a performance studio and screening room.

Christine Hamilton, director of the ICE, said: "A key part of our role is to retain creative graduates in the city. ICE also is committed to showcasing work and being a centre for creative activity in Coventry."
