MUSICAL youngsters in Nuneaton Nun·ea·ton  

A municipal borough of central England north of Coventry. It is a textile center. Population: 69,800.
 benefited to the tune of more than pounds 2,000.

The Phantom Knights marching corps was handed the cash to buy two mellophones - costing pounds 1,200 each - to help give their music a more competitive edge.

The grant came from Nuneaton and Bedworth Nuneaton and Bedworth (nənē`tən), district (1991 pop. 115,300), Warwickshire, central England. The district primarily comprises the city of Nuneaton and the town of Bedworth. The district's growth was based on coal mining.  Borough Council.

Young musicians and staff at the corps are now busy learning new music and marching formations for this year's competitions.

These begin with the official season opener, The Midland Musical Miscellany at Bedworth Civic Hall, where ten bands will go head to head on stage on March 15.
