. For 16 years prior to that, he was principal consultant to the State Senate Committee on Industrial Relations.

In his new capacity, Young will manage a professional staff that analyzes and tracks state and federal legislation that impact the programs and operations of CalPERS. He will be the principal liaison between CalPERS and Legislature, providing legislators and their staffs with information and analysis on legislative issues relevant to CalPERS.

Young is a graduate of UC Davis with a degree in political science. He replaces Susan Myers, who recently retired.

CalPERS, with $140 billion in assets, is the largest public pension fund in the U.S. It provides retirement and health benefits to more than 1.1 million active and retired California public employees and their families.
