Case Settled Against Arkansas Casino Corp.


The parent company of Arkansas Casino Corp. and one of its top backers pleaded guilty last week in Pulaski County Pulaski County is the name of several counties in the United States:

James C. Harris James C. Harris is the fictional Deputy Commissioner of Operations of the Baltimore Police Department on , He was played by Al Freeman Jr.[1] Biography , former chairman of Arkansas Casino Corp., pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor count of selling unregistered securities. He was fined $100, ordered to pay court costs court costs n. fees for expenses that the courts pass on to attorneys, who then pass them on to their clients or, in some kinds of cases, to the losing party.  and placed on a year's unsupervised probation for selling stock in 1997, said Theodore Holder, assistant commissioner for the Arkansas Securities Department.

Harris had been charged with three felonies in connection with securities fraud, but two counts were dropped. The other charge against Harris was reduced to a misdemeanor, Holder said.

Natural State Resorts Inc., Arkansas Casino Corp.'s parent company, pleaded guilty to securities fraud and was fined $2,000, Holder said.

Three felony charges of securities fraud were dropped against the company's former secretary, Robert W. Buchholz, a Dallas attorney.

"We didn't think we had good evidence" against Buchholz, Holder said.

"The evidence wasn't as good as what we thought it would be," Holder said.

The securities department and NSR also settled their civil suit against each other. The securities department's case against" Robert "Bobby" May, the president of NSR, and Robert C. Means, the company's vice president, is still pending, Holder said.

The settlement involved NSR agreeing to only sell registered stock in Arkansas, Holder said.

In November; voters defeated Arkansas Casino Corp.'s amendment to the state Constitution that would have allowed the company to operate six casinos in Arkansas.
