 Benson, Minn., manufacturing facility, which currently produces selfpropelled application equipment. The Benson plant has the resources and expertise to expand its production capabilities to include the cotton pickers, according to Kim Heiden, plant manager.

This move follows CNH's consolidation plan to close the existing manufacturing plant in East Moline East Moline Moline (mōlēn`), city (1990 pop. 43,202), Rock Island co., NW Ill., on the Mississippi River, in a coal area; inc. 1848. It is a transportation and industrial center, and has been a major producer of farm machinery since the industrialist John Deere moved there in 1847. (mōlēn`), city (1990 pop. 20,147), Rock Island co., NW Ill., a suburb of Moline, on the Mississippi River; inc. 1907. East Moline, along with Moline, Rock Island, and Davenport, Iowa, was formerly regarded as one of the Quad Cities, but the growth of Bettendorf, Iowa, resulted in its displacing East Moline from the, Ill., where both Case IH cotton pickers and combines are currently produced. Combine production will transfer to the CNH Grand Island Grand Island, city (1990 pop. 39,386), seat of Hall co., S Nebr., on the Wood River near its junction with the Platte; settled 1857 on the Platte by Germans, moved 1866 to its location on the Union Pacific RR, inc. c.1872. The city is a railroad hub and a market and shipping center for an irrigated livestock, grain, corn, and dairy region., Neb., facility, which was previously announced.

The first Benson-produced Case JR CPX610 six row and 2555 four-row cotton pickers will roll off the line in the second quarter of 2004, kicking off the company's 2004 model year production. The cotton pickers will be assembled on the same line used for Case IH self-propelled floaters.
