Cascade joins InterAct'96 as partner in the world's first virtual 3-D conference and trade show; Cascade's frame relay switches at the heart of the Internet deliver high-performance and high-speed access to the Internet.
As a gold partner, Cascade will host a virtual trade show booth and product demonstrations of the B-STDX multiservice WAN switch and the Cascade 500 ATM switch. At the forefront of the industry trend to redefine the future of computing, Cascade has chosen to be a partner in InterAct'96 because it provides a forum to examine the issues surrounding the growth of the Internet.
Deployed by the world's largest commercial Internet providers -- PSINet, UUNet, and NETCOM -- Cascade switches comprise the heart of the Internet, providing a next-generation infrastructure to ensure Internet optimization. It is estimated that 70 percent of all Internet traffic passes through a Cascade switch at some point during transmission.
"InterAct'96 offers a real-time forum for the exchange of information -- just one example of how Cascade switches are allowing for custom-designed breakthrough services," said Anita Brearton, director of marketing programs for Cascade. "Cascade is excited to be participating in the world's first interactive trade show and experimenting with a new vehicle for demonstrating cyberspace technologies."
Attendees will enter the show through the InterAct'96 website, http://www.InterAct'96.com, and point-and-click on a virtual gate. After entering through the virtual gate, the web site will evolve into the InterAct'96 virtual conference hall where users will navigate through the halls with their mouse and interact with other attendees and vendors. Attendees can visit Cascade's booth to learn more about Frame Relay and ATM technology. The virtual nature of the booth will allow visitors to pick up items to examine them and also to chat live on-line with a Cascade spokesperson. As a real-time, interactive forum, InterAct'96 is a trade show without the inconvenience of travel, expense or crowds.
InterAct'96 will showcase the latest technology, use the most innovative real-time audio and video tools, and deliver a completely customized relationship between vendors and attendees. As the world moves to capitalize on Web capabilities with events such as InterAct'96, new Internet requirements for reliability and accountability will emerge. Cascade's Frame Relay switches at the core of the Internet optimize such uses of the Internet by providing greater reliability and Quality of Service than the original router-based infrastructure.
"Cascade's partnership with InterAct'96 and their work with leading Internet Service Providers demonstrates their commitment to deliver next-generation technology today," said Francois Gossieaux, director of InterAct'96. "InterAct'96 promises to deliver to every attendee an entirely new trade show experience and this begins with partners like Cascade."
InterAct'96, a joint project of Stratus Computer, Inc. (NYSE:SRA), Info World and Time Magazine, will take place April 23-25, 1996, and can be attended by anyone with Internet access. The world's first virtual conference will welcome thousands of attendees and companies on-line.
