The Massachusetts plant was selected for closing in large part because of its proximity to the new plant. When it announced the construction of the New Britain plant, Carvel noted that the state of Connecticut and the city of New Britain would be providing a $2.6 million low-interest loan for the project, up to $2 million in Urban and Industrial Sites Reinvestment Tax Credits, and local property tax exemptions through the state's Enterprise Zone program. |
