Carswell acquires Canada's largest online legal info provider.

Canadian legal, HR and finance information publisher Carswell (Toronto, ON) has acquired the assets of Lexpert (Toronto, ON), Canada's largest online source of news and information about the business of law. No terms of the deal were given.

Lexpert's products and services include: Lexpert Magazine, a monthly that covers such topics as mergers and acquisitions, new and ongoing suits, law firm marketing, law department and law firm management, technology and human resources; the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory; the Lexpert/American Lawyer Guide to the Leading 500 Lawyers in Canada; the Lexpert/CCCA Corporate Counsel Directory and Yearbook; and, the Lexpert Conference series. The company also maintains a legal transaction and lawsuit database and web site.

Carswell said the deal signals its expansion into a wider range of services that include topical news about the legal Industry, directory content and web capabilities.

Carswell publishes a range of news and information products, Including books, newsletters, Journals, CDs and online, for the Canadian legal, tax, finance, accounting and HR markets.
