) announced today that it understands that a second request for additional information has been delivered by the Department of Justice to Cosmair, Inc., under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act The Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act of 1976 (Public Law 94-435, known commonly as the HSR Act) is a set of amendments to the antitrust laws of the United States, principally the Clayton Antitrust Act. The HSR Act was signed into law by President Gerald R.  in connection with Cosmair's pending offer for all the issued and outstanding shares of the Company.

In this connection, Carson has been served with a civil investigative demand by the DOJ (Department Of Justice) The legal arm of the U.S. government that represents the public interest of the United States. It is headed by the Attorney General.  for additional documentation. The parties intend to comply with these requests as soon as practicable.
