Protego Networks, Inc., the leader in Security Threat Management appliances, today announced that industry veteran Carson Chen has joined its Board of Directors. Mr. Chen is a retired member of Cisco Systems' seasoned executive team and brings a wealth of industry experience to the team. Carson Chen has over 30 years of experience in the development and marketing of telecommunications technologies. Mr. Chen was most recently the Vice President and General Manager of Cisco's Cable & Wireless Platform Division, where he was a visionary member of the Cisco executive team for the past 12 years. Mr. Chen was responsible for creating new markets, products and industry standards. His teams delivered over $1 billion in sales.

Mr. Chen has held senior positions with National Semiconductor Corporation, Ford Aerospace and West Coast United Broadcasting Co. He built Cisco's broadband cable CMTS business from the ground up, helping to create Cisco's dominant worldwide industry leadership position. Mr. Chen led the development of the AGS+ and 7000 Series Cisco routers, powering the early expansion of the World Wide Web infrastructure of the mid to late 1990s. His teams developed the first versatile interface processors with distributed routing, the first silicon switching engine and port adaptor technology. Mr. Chen is responsible for over 30 U.S. Patents and holds six himself. In addition, he authored the book titled "Active Filter Design."
