Carrying the tech torch.I wanted to drop you a brief note regarding my thoughts after reading all the back issues from your recent $20 offer. First let me say that in general I'm pleased with the magazine and will more than likely renew my subscription. Here are a few specific suggestions: 1) Publish more of Dr. Rich's articles, especially long technical overviews. I have kept those. Subjective reviews don't mean much to me, but I really enjoy learning the technical details. 2) The music reviews are very hard to read. The page layout :For the Wikipedia policy about articles layout, see Wikipedia:Guide to layout. Page layout is the part of graphic design that deals in the arrangement and style treatment of elements (content) on a page. doesn't parse well for me. 3) How do we get an Audio Precision test system for Dr. Rich so the poor guy can to what needs to be done? His references to The Audio Critic prompted me to buy all the back issues of that magazine. WOW (1) (World Organization of Webmasters, Folsom, CA, www.joinwow.org) A membership organization for professionals who are involved with creating and maintaining Web sites. WOW also provides certification via testing centers throughout the U.S. ! Too bad it is no longer publishing. I hope that The Sensible Sound can pick up the torch and keep the objective flame alive in the audio press. So with that in mind, I offer that I am more than willing to make an annual contribution of say $100 to a fund that would be used to purchase adequate test equipment. I don't know Don't know (DK, DKed) "Don't know the trade." A Street expression used whenever one party lacks knowledge of a trade or receives conflicting instructions from the other party. how many subscribers you have nor how many would be willing to help fund such a project, but maybe it would be worth it to find out. Finally, I subscribe to Verb 1. subscribe to - receive or obtain regularly; "We take the Times every day" subscribe, take buy, purchase - obtain by purchase; acquire by means of a financial transaction; "The family purchased a new car"; "The conglomerate acquired a new company"; The Absolute Sound because of Robert E. Greene's articles and I subscribe to Stereophile because of JA's measurements. If The Sensible Sound can give me something comparable, I will continue subscribing. via e-mail Thanks for the kind words, Mr. Reynolds. You will be quite pleased to see an extensive technical overview article by Dr. Rich in this issue. Enjoy! Sorry that you have a hard time reading the music reviews. I'm not sure what can be done to make them more readable read·a·ble adj. 1. Easily read; legible: a readable typeface. 2. Pleasurable or interesting to read: a readable story. ; they are in the same layout format as the technical reviews, so I am not quite clear on your specific problem. The likelihood of a whole bunch of people sending us $100/yr to buy DAR an Audio Precision is ilchzay, adanay, erozay--but it's a nice thought. Sigh sigh (sī), n an audible and prolonged inspiration followed by a shortened expiration. sigh ... |
