Canine parvoviral enteritis, which afflicts in excess of one million dogs annually in the United States, causes severe dehydration and, in extreme cases, may lead to shock and death. This virus occurs largely in puppies less than four months old, which are at greater risk because of their immature immune systems.

"We are pleased to begin this initial dose-finding trial to evaluate the product's potential use in a severe disease affecting our pets," said Dr. Bill Yates, Carrington senior director of preclinical/veterinary studies.

Carrington Laboratories, Inc., is an emerging research-based pharmaceutical and medical device company engaged in developing complex carbohydrate-based therapeutics and in manufacturing and marketing products for the management of wounds.
