Carrington Laboratories, Inc. receives go-ahead from USDA for parvovirus field studies in dogs.

IRVING, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 22, 1995--Carrington Laboratories, Inc., (NASDAQ: CARN), announced today that it has received permission from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to conduct an initial trial for canine parvoviral enteritis, a highly contagious disease, with one of its proprietary complex carbohydrate, veterinary formulation, injectable "Acemannan Immunostimulant."

The study will seek to determine the clinical role of "Acemannan Immunostimulant" in dogs with "parvo," as it is commonly called. It is anticipated this study will be completed in 120 days.

Canine parvoviral enteritis, which afflicts in excess of one million dogs annually in the United States, causes severe dehydration and, in extreme cases, may lead to shock and death. This virus occurs largely in puppies less than four months old, which are at greater risk because of their immature immune systems.
