Carrier1 announced today an agreement with Yahoo! Inc. (Nasdaq: YHOO YHOO Yahoo! Inc. (NASDAQ symbol) ), a leading global Internet Internet

Publicly accessible computer network connecting many smaller networks from around the world. It grew out of a U.S. Defense Department program called ARPANET (Advanced Research Projects Agency Network), established in 1969 with connections between computers at the
media company, to join Yahoo!'s multicast (1) To transmit data to multiple recipients on the network at the same time using one transmission stream to the switches, at which point data are distributed out to the end users on separate lines.  affiliate program as a multicast carrier.

Through this agreement, Carrier 1 will enhance its Internet service offering to customers by providing pan-European access to streaming media programming. Yahoo! will work with Carrier1 and its ISP customers to multicast-enable their networks to facilitate the efficient distribution of video and audio streams, up to 300Kbps, to their 60 ISP customers. Customers of Carrier1's ISPs will have access to a selection of multicast and broadband video and audio programming through a co-branded page on Yahoo!(R) Broadcast (http://www.broadcast.com/mcisp/carrier1.stm), the comprehensive source for audio and video programming on the Web.

"We view this as a strategic relationship which demonstrates Carrier1's commitment to enhance our pan-European and US network with Internet offerings that support our customers in their business. Yahoo! has pioneered the deployment of multicast broadband content in the US, and we are extremely happy to be working with them to provide our pan-European customers access to Yahoo!'s multimedia programming," said Dominic McGlinchey Dominic McGlinchey (1954 – 10 February, 1994) was an Irish republican paramilitary with the Irish National Liberation Army (INLA).
