Carrier wins 1995 National Energy Award.


WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 1, 1995--Carrier Corp. announced today that it is a winner in the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) 1995 National Awards Program for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Renewable energy utilizes natural resources such as sunlight, wind, tides and geothermal heat, which are naturally replenished. Renewable energy technologies range from solar power, wind power, and hydroelectricity to biomass and biofuels for transportation. .

The special recognition award, given by DOE's Office of Technical and Financial Assistance, recognizes those who have implemented energy-related measures that benefit the nation's environment, economy and security.

Carrier's Commercial Applied Equipment and Services Division, headquartered in Syracuse, N.Y., developed a pivotal technology breakthrough in centrifugal chiller chill·er

The new line of chillers is expected to be as efficient as the best in the industry. In addition, it will be smaller and use environmentally friendly Environmentally friendly, also referred to as nature friendly, is a term used to refer to goods and services considered to inflict minimal harm on the environment.[1]  refrigerant HFC-134a.

"This award is another sign of Carrier's ability to keep its commitment to the environment while providing our customers with a cost-effective, highly efficient piece of equipment," stated Roger Morey, vice president and general manager for Carrier's Commercial Applied Equipment and Services Division.

"Carrier is extremely proud that the Department of Energy has recognized our continued commitment to developing products which promote responsible energy use and environmental health," added Matt Chadderdon, Carrier's vice president for Government Relations.

An independent panel of energy and environmental experts judged the nominated projects on the basis of energy savings transferability, economic impact, environmental impact and outstanding attributes.

This award is one of four honors Carrier has received this year, along with New York New York, state, United States
New York, Middle Atlantic state of the United States. It is bordered by Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and the Atlantic Ocean (E), New Jersey and Pennsylvania (S), Lakes Erie and Ontario and the Canadian province of
 State DOE awards for innovation and energy excellence, as well as the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Stratospheric strat·o·spher·ic
