Carrier purchases manufacturer of heat exchangers in South Africa.


FARMINGTON, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 24, 1996--Carrier Corp. announced today the purchase of RECAM, a South African-based manufacturer of heat exchangers for the commercial refrigeration refrigeration, process for drawing heat from substances to lower their temperature, often for purposes of preservation. Refrigeration in its modern, portable form also depends on insulating materials that are thin yet effective.  market.

RECAM is located in Booysens, just south of Johannesburg, and employs 136 people. Financial details of the purchase were not disclosed.
