Carrier prepared for increases in express shipping to Vietnam.

REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 12, 1995--The extension of diplomatic relations by the U.S. to Vietnam will usher in an era of increased trade between the two nations according to Steve Waller, senior vice president for network transportation for DHL Airways, Inc. "We have already seen increases in commerce between the U.S. and Vietnam since last February when the trade embargo was lifted by President Clinton," said Waller.

Waller pointed out that Vietnam is experiencing "strong growth with heavy emphasis on imports both to build up the nation's infrastructure and to provide consumer items not manufactured domestically." Vietnam currently imports approximately $3 billion worth of goods annually. "With diplomatic recognition by the U.S., American manufacturers should be in a position to generate a growing percentage of that amount."
