Carrier Access Corporation (Nasdaq:CACS), a manufacturer of broadband communications equipment, and VocalData Inc., an application developer of hosted IP telephony services, announced completion of full compatibility between Carrier Access' Adit(R) 600 Customer Media Gateway (CMG) platform and VocalData's VOISS(TM) application server. As a result, service providers will be able to easily deliver enhanced voice over IP (VoIP) services and applications to business and government users. The combined solution leverages existing business investments such as telephones, key systems, and PBXs to deliver new service capabilities with VoIP at the lowest installed customer cost.

The recently completed interoperability tests provide a solution composed of a carrier-grade VoIP customer gateway using the Carrier Access Adit 600 platform and the high performance, standards-based VOISS application server from VocalData. Service providers have shown substantial interest in two access methods: the conversion of analog telephone lines to IP and converged voice and data delivery over T1 facilities. These access methods deliver new user communication values from VoIP, while eliminating the need for significant new equipment or installation expenses.

The Adit 600 defines a new class of IP gateway that combines multi-network access and multi-service delivery into one platform. VOISS is standards-based for easy integration into a multi-vendor environment, using the widest range in protocols, including SIP, MGCP, and SCCP. Both the Adit 600 and the VOISS application server support major industry softswitches.

The carrier-grade Adit 600 CMG is a bladed solution that delivers exceptional reliability using a fuseless and fanless design with an integrated battery charger. The platform can mix TDM, IP, and other data services over one to sixteen T1 or E1 access connections.

The VocalData VOISS application platform supports a variety of IP voice solutions including hosted PBX, VoIP VPN, business trunking, IP Centrex and residential services.
