Carrier Access Introduces Consolidated IP Access with Adit 3000 Series; Speed, Security and Voice Delivered on Advanced IP Network Processing Technology.

BOULDER, Colo. -- Carrier Access Corporation (NASDAQ: CACS), a leading provider of communications access technologies, today announced the Adit 3000 Series of products to deliver converged IP access to the customer premises. The Carrier Access Adit 3000 product line establishes new levels of multi-service IP access performance and security offered at disruptive price points for both business users and service providers.

Carrier Access' Adit 3000 products solve several key problems faced by today's business user. First, enterprises no longer need to sacrifice speed for security. The Adit 3000 Series utilizes next-generation IP network processing technology combined with security to deliver 10 to 100 times the routing performance at a disruptive price compared to existing product offerings. As IP services such as streaming media and VoIP are deployed, end-users need higher processing performance to maintain throughput along with the ability to inspect every incoming packet to avoid security breaches. Second, the Adit 3000 Series combines public and private security on a single access platform, erasing the need for end-users to purchase, deploy and manage a standalone security device, which translates into significant cost savings. Third, the Adit 3000 platform allows enterprises to maintain their current infrastructure investment by converging existing voice lines onto their data network to gain access to the latest broadband application services and save money.

Carrier Access' Adit 3000 products enable service providers to cost-effectively expand both new service revenues and customer capacity without the need to purchase, install and support multiple types of routing and access equipment. Additionally, the Adit 3000 products are designed to eliminate on-site visits, which reduces network management costs, personnel and support to deliver new IP services.

Carrier Access' Adit 3402 High-bandwidth, Multi-service Router offers full Fast Ethernet throughput with security, stateful firewall, intrusion detection, NAT, one to four T1 or WAN interfaces and supports up to 24 lines of voice service delivery. The scalability of the Adit 3402 makes it an ideal device for Small- to Medium-sized Business (SMB) locations with expanding throughput needs.

The Adit 3104 IP Business Gateway incorporates VoIP capabilities with Ethernet-speed performance. It supports a single T1 or Fast Ethernet WAN port, four-port Ethernet switch, stateful firewall, intrusion detection, IPSec VPN with encryption and converts up to 24 lines of analog voice lines to VoIP. The Adit 3104 creates a secure partition between external public network access, while enabling remote users to securely connect to their businesses.

Pricing and Availability

The Adit 3402 will be generally available this week. Pricing starts at $1,095 for one T1 and two Ethernet ports. The Adit 3104 is planned for availability for customer evaluation in early Q4 of this year. The Adit 3402 and 3104 each come with a five-year warranty on hardware and comprehensive maintenance packages.
