Carpenters endorse Spitzer as next NY Governor.

 District Council of Carpenters, representing more than 10 local unions, has endorsed Attorney General Eliot Spitzer's candidacy for Governor of New York New York, state, United States
New York, Middle Atlantic state of the United States. It is bordered by Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and the Atlantic Ocean (E), New Jersey and Pennsylvania (S), Lakes Erie and Ontario and the Canadian province of
 State.

In announcing the endorsement, District Council executive secretary-treasurer and business manager Michael J. Forde said: "Eliot is the right guy for this job. As Attorney General, he has always placed the interests of New York's working men and women above all else. Now he has made clear that as our Governor he will be an advocate for real growth and will support important infrastructure projects throughout the state. I'm proud to join with my members in endorsing his candidacy."

In 2002, the Carpenters endorsed Governor George Pataki George Elmer Pataki (born June 24, 1945) is an American politician who was the 57th Governor of New York serving from January 1995 until January 1, 2007. He is a member of the Republican Party and was seen as a possible 2000 and 2008 Presidential candidate.  for re-election.

"I am proud to have them on board and I look forward to working closely with Mike Forde and his members as we develop the kinds of projects that will make New York State great once again. Thank you."

The District Council's endorsement comes as Spitzer has announced an impressive list of endorsements over the past month, including the New York City PBA PBA Professional Bowlers Association
PBA Palm Beach Atlantic University (West Palm Beach, Florida)
PBA Partial-Birth Abortion
PBA Philippine Basketball Association
PBA Public Broadcasting Atlanta (Georgia, USA) 
, the Uniformed Fire Officers, former Mayor Ed Koch and over 30 Mayors from across the state.

Spitzer 2006 campaign manager Ryan Toohey commented on the significance of this endorsement: "We are Very excited to have the District Council of Carpenters as part of our team.
