Dynamet's partnership with Schutt is part of a continuing strategy to diversify into recreation and consumer markets. "We are very excited about the opportunity to partner with such a progressive company as Schutt," said Brian M. Brandstetter, Manager, Marketing, Dynamet. "Schutt's history of supplying innovative high quality sports equipment is unparalleled and together we expect to grow our businesses in this unique niche market A niche market also known as a target market is a focused, targetable portion (subset) of a market sector.

By definition, then, a business that focuses on a niche market is addressing a need for a product or service that is not being addressed by mainstream providers.
."

"Dynamet understands and shares our commitment to supply technically innovative products to the protective sports equipment marketplace," states Julie Nimmons, President of Schutt. "We have had tremendous market acceptance from the players who have used our titanium guards, and with the formation of our alliance with Dynamet, we are ready to expand our offering to include more designs and broaden our reach into more markets."

Faceguards that have been made from titanium provide the required strength needed and are lighter in weight, creating a performance advantage. Compared to a similar design from steel, a titanium faceguard typically is one-half the weight. In addition to these advantages, titanium is resistant to almost all forms of corrosion and is more flexible than steel materials often used in faceguards.

Dynamet's UPG Ti-Guard material is produced to meet Schutt's unique requirements, enabling Schutt to manufacture a wide range of faceguard designs. Schutt has made titanium faceguards for football, baseball and softball helmets which have been used from the pros through the youth markets.
