The results are in! David Jessen, Director of Entrepreneurial Services of Ernst & Young today announced the award recipients of The Carolinas' Year 2000 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year(R) awards.

The program recognizes entrepreneurs who have demonstrated excellence and extraordinary success in such areas as innovation, financial performance, and personal commitment to their businesses and communities. This year's award recipients are:

The winners were announced at a gala awards ceremony held at the Charlotte Hilton & Towers on Friday, June 23, 2000. The event was the culmination of an intensive search to identify and recognize Carolinas' outstanding entrepreneurs.

The Carolinas' winners are now eligible to participate in Ernst & Young's National Entrepreneur Of The Year awards competition, the pre-eminent program honoring outstanding owners of fast-growing companies.

The national search will culminate at a black-tie awards gala in Palm Springs, California Palm Springs is a famed Riverside County, California desert resort city, approximately 110 miles (177 km) east of Los Angeles and 140 miles (225 km) northeast of San Diego. As of the 2000 census, the city population was 42,807. , on November 11, 2000, where the national Entrepreneur Of The Year finalists and winners in several national categories, as well as the National Entrepreneur Of The Year, will be announced and celebrated by more than 2,000 attendees as part of the Entrepreneur Of The Year International Conference.

Previous Entrepreneur Of The Year award winners include a "Who's Who" of business leaders, such as Michael Dell of Dell Computer Corporation (company) Dell Computer Corporation - One of the biggest US manufacturers of IBM PC compatibles.
