Carolina Power & Light board elects Harder executive vice president, CFO.RALEIGH, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 12, 1995--The board of directors of Carolina Power & Light (NYSE NYSE See: New York Stock Exchange : CPL), meeting today in Raleigh, elected Glenn E. Harder executive vice president and chief financial officer, effective Aug. 1. He succeeds Charles D. Barham Jr., who is retiring. Harder, 44, came to CP&L in October 1994 from Entergy Corp. in New Orleans New Orleans (ôr`lēənz –lənz, ôrlēnz`), city (2006 pop. 187,525), coextensive with Orleans parish, SE La., between the Mississippi River and Lake Pontchartrain, 107 mi (172 km) by water from the river mouth; founded , where he was treasurer and vice president of financial services. Previously, he had served as vice president, accounting, and treasurer, for Entergy Operations in Jackson, Miss. Before joining Entergy as a corporate tax specialist in 1978, Harder held tax and auditing positions with Arthur Young & Co. in New Orleans. Barham, 65, has been executive vice president and chief financial officer at CP&L since 1990. He joined CP&L in 1966 as an associate general counsel. Following a six-year period as a partner in the law firm of Douglass & Barham, he rejoined CP&L in 1981 as vice president and senior counsel. He became senior vice president in 1982. Barham's retirement is effective July 31.
