Carol Richards receives OMD's Salk Award.


TORONTO -- Physiotherapist Dr. Carol L. Richards received the 2005 Dr. Jonas Salk Award of the Ontario March of Dimes Ontario March of Dimes (in French La Marche des Dix Sous de l'Ontario; officially Rehabilitation Foundation for the Disabled) is a Canadian charitable organization which provides programs and services to people of all ages with physical disabilities in Ontario. . The $10,000' prize is co-sponsored by Sanofi Pasteur and OMD OMD Doctor of Oriental Medicine.

. The award recognizes Dr. Richards' achievement as a pioneer in rehabilitation science and builder of multidisciplinary relations across the rehabilitation sciences. Dr. Richards, Professor of Rehabilitation at Laval Univergity and Research Director of the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Rehabilitation and Social Integration. She is internationally recognized for her work in the rehabilitation of walking disabilities of persons after stroke, with cerebral palsy and musculoskeletal musculoskeletal /mus·cu·lo·skel·e·tal/ (-skel´e-t'l) pertaining to or comprising the skeleton and muscles.
