Carnival falls foul of rain.


THE annual Tipton Carnival was rained off yesterday for the first time in 46 years.

Organisers spent pounds 7,500 on the carnival but cancelled it after the water-logged ground at Jubilee Park Jubilee Park is a recreation park in Woodhall Spa, Lincolnshire, England opened in 1937. The park lies adjacent to the Pinewoods and offers a facility that was fairly common once, but is rare today, a heated outdoor swimming pool.  was deemed unsafe.

Events under canvas including a dog show were initially going ahead but were also later scrapped because ground was too wet for pets.

, an organiser, said: "It is a real shame because this event has always been held on the first Saturday in June.

"But the torrential rain means we cannot run the electrics needed for the funfair."
