Carnival Air Lines to introduce ticketless travel on Fort Lauderdale-Newark flights.

FORT LAUDERDALE Fort Lauderdale (lô`dərdāl), residential, commercial, and resort city (1990 pop. 149,377), seat of Broward co., SE Fla., on the Atlantic coast; settled around a fort built (c.1837) in the Seminole War, inc. 1911. , Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 8, 1996--Carnival Air Lines will introduce its new ticketless travel system on its Fort Lauderdale-Newark flights on July July: see month.  15.

The airline plans to offer the service on all of its domestic routes by next summer.

With ticketless travel, customers can book a flight through the airline's reservations department by using a major credit card, receive a confirmation number, and board the aircraft -- all without ever holding a paper ticket. The entire transaction is done electronically. Passengers can receive a transaction receipt and itinerary by mail or fax, at their request.

To receive a boarding pass at the airport, passengers will be required to present a picture I.D.

Ticketless travel benefits the passenger by eliminating the need to obtain a paper ticket. It also makes lost tickets and complicated itinerary changes a thing of the past.

"In the long term it will save us time, paper, and money. It is also convenient to passengers, particularly those who travel regularly," said Carnival Air Lines Carnival Air Lines was a charter and low-cost air division of Carnival Cruise Lines started in 1988 after Carnival Cruise Lines purchased Pacific Interstate Airlines.
